European Society of Feline Medicine


The European Society of Feline Medicine (ESFM) was founded in 1996 by the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) to provide a focus for veterinary surgeons with a interest and enthusiasm for feline medicine. It aims to provide a forum for the dissemination of information and current developments through its bimonthly Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (JFMS).

 

Objectives:

  • To serve veterinary practitioners and scientists with an interest in feline medicine and to establish links between different groups across Europe
  • To promote continuing education in the field of feline medicine
  • To raise awareness of feline medicine to the practitioner
  • To publish a specialist journal
  • To forge links with humane societies and exchange information
  • To develop further qualifications in the subject of feline medicine

Principal activities

  • Production of Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery in association with Elsevier and the American Association of Feline Practitioners
  • Organisation of continuing education days/conferences for veterinary surgeons
  • Working to develop specialist qualifications such as a certificate in feline medicine
