The European Society of Feline
Medicine (ESFM) was founded in 1996 by the Feline Advisory Bureau
(FAB) to provide a focus for veterinary surgeons with an interest
and enthusiasm for feline medicine. It aims to provide a forum
for the dissemination of information and current developments
through its Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (JFMS).
Classic and clinical practice issues of the Journal are published
on alternate months.
Objectives:
To serve veterinary practitioners and scientists with an interest in feline medicine and to establish links between different groups across Europe
To promote continuing education in the field of feline medicine
To raise awareness of feline medicine to the practitioner
To publish a specialist journal
To forge links with humane societies and exchange information
To develop further qualifications in the subject of feline medicine
Principal activities
Production of Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery in association with Elsevier and the American Association of Feline Practitioners
Organisation of continuing education days/conferences for veterinary surgeons
Working to develop specialist qualifications such as a certificate in feline medicine
