The
Feline Advisory Bureau operates a List of high quality boarding
catteries. This List is available to the general public and has
a wide circulation. FAB invites boarding catteries to apply
for inclusion on the List. To qualify, catteries must comply
with the FAB Standard
for Construction and Management of Boarding Catteries and as set out in the FAB
Boarding Cattery Manual. The Standard and
Manual aim to ensure a safe environment and quality care for boarded
cats, and to minimise the risk of the spread of disease. Training courses in practical cattery management are
available.
Inclusion
on the boarding cattery List does not imply approval of any other
activity on the part of the cattery proprietor or at the cattery
address
The
aim of the Scheme is to:
- raise
standards of construction and care in boarding catteries
- raise
awareness of good standards of boarding amongst the public
- provide
information for cat owners on how to find a good boarding cattery
The
benefits of being a FAB Listed Boarding Cattery include:
- backup
and expertise of FAB, a well known organisation in the field
of feline welfare
- wide
publicity via the media (newspapers, cat magazines)
- circulation
on FAB Listed Catteries sheet, FAB website, FAB Journal
- provision
of FAB Listed Boarding Cattery logo artwork for use on cattery
literature
- provision
of leaflets on choosing a good boarding cattery for display
in reception area
- provision
of an attractive display sign which states 'FAB LISTED BOARDING
CATTERY'
- provision
of assessment forms (for feedback from clients)
- certificate
of Listing for reception area (renewed annually)
- full
set of FAB information sheets
- support
of other cattery proprietors
- continuing
information through conferences, training etc
- Listing in the Good
Cattery Guide
To
be eligible for Listing, Catteries must:
To
maintain Listing, Catteries will:
- be
members of FAB
- be asked to reaffirm management protocol annually
- be
revisited periodically
- give assessment forms to clients
- use FAB logo appropriately
- inform
FAB of:
a) changes to the original application (increase of units etc)
b) sale of cattery and change of ownership
c) closure of cattery
In
the event of b) or c) or withdrawal from the Scheme, any sign
provided will be returned to FAB
FAB
reserves the right to remove catteries from the List without prior
notice.
Listed
catteries should use the FAB Listed Boarding Cattery logo artwork
in their advertising, or state that they are a FAB listed cattery.
They should not state "FAB approved" or in any way imply
that FAB approval has been given to any other activity on the
part of the cattery proprietor or at the cattery address.
