The fab feline veterinary federation (fvf) is the first step in the creation of an international collaboration of veterinary feline groups. Fab, veterinary cat groups from Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy and Scandanavian countries have come together to pool information and exchange ideas.

The aim of the fab fvf is to enhance the contacts and collaboration between fab (including its specialised veterinary division, the European Society of Feline Medicine (esfm)) and other veterinary feline study groups, initially in Europe. It is hoped that it will eventually incorporate groups from all over the world.  The main objectives of the fvf will be to help improve the welfare of pet cats, increase the profile and membership of the various member groups and to pool and share information on feline health and welfare. Fab already has nearly 50years experience in this field and although it has been largely UK-based in the past, it is increasingly becoming an important international source of the highest quality information on cats.

As the organiser of the FVF, fab is offering web space, veterinary and client information sheets for translation and use, and a wide network of feline experts to the different FVF members

For more information about the FVF members, please see below.

The NVK, the Dutch Society for Feline Medicine, is the Dutch branch of an European network for veterinarians with a special interest in feline medicine.

The founders and present members of the board of the NVK are five veterinarians with a special interest in feline medicine.

The aim of the NVK is to provide members with information on feline medicine and other feline subjects by the “classical” way of spreading information, but also, in this era of fast information exchange, using digital pamphlets.

JAMAREN

The Swedish Veterinary Feline Study Group eller Jamaren bildades 1996.

The Swedish Veterinary Feline Study Group or Jamaren was founded in 1996. The members of the group are small animal veterinarians with an interest in the feline species. The group has about 140 members. Our purpose is to spread knowledge about the cat and its diseases.

The group organises 2 courses per year, and we invite both national and international lecturers. The theme for the meeting in June 2007 was ultrasonography of the feline abdomen. Dr Ralph Wendt came from Germany for both theoretical discussions and practical handling of the ultra sound machines. We also had about 15 cats and their breeders volunteering for the examinations. At the moment we are preparing for the autumn course of 2007. We have invited Dr Katja Voss from Switzerland to speak on feline surgical procedures. The group publishes a newsletter three times per year.
