Het spijt ons u te moeten meedelen dat de vereniging niet goed van de grond is gekomen. Om diverse redenen zijn onze doelstellingen niet gehaald.
Derhalve is het bestuur thans bezig de nodige stappen te nemen om de vereniging op te heffen en heten we officieel: 'NVK-Vereniging in liquidatie.'
Er wordt op dit moment bekeken of er een doorstart gemaakt kan worden als kattenwerkgroep bij de Groep Geneeskunde voor Gezelschapsdieren van de KNMvD.
Wij adviseren u om via de site van GGG op de hoodte te blijven van nieuwe ontwikkelingen.

De NVK is de Nederlandse tak van een Europees netwerk van dierenartsen met een speciale interesse in kattengeneeskunde.
De stuwende kracht achter dit netwerk is de Britse vereniging FAB (Feline Advisory Bureau). Dit bolwerk van kennis over katten in de breedste zin van het woord wilde zijn vleugels uitslaan richting het Europese vasteland.
De enorme kennis over katten die FAB achter de hand had bleef namelijk grotendeels in het Verenigd Koninkrijk “hangen”.
Om de kattengroepen op het Europese vasteland te kunnen faciliteren richtte FAB de FVF op, de Feline Veterinary Federation.
Kattengroepen aangesloten bij de FVF mogen gebruik maken van de door FAB gepubliceerde informatiebulletins over katten(geneeskunde) en tevens met hun website “aanhaken” aan de website van de FAB.
Het huidige bestuur van de NVK bestaat uit vijf dierenartsen met een passie voor kattengeneeskunde die besloten hebben om samen als eerste de kar te gaan trekken.
De doelstelling is om de leden te voorzien van kennis via de “klassieke “manieren van kennisoverdracht, maar juist ook via korte en bondige digitale vlugschriften.

The NVK, i.e. the Dutch Society for Feline Medicine, is the Dutch branch of an European network for veterinarians with a special interest in feline medicine.
The driving power behind this network is the British Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB). Already for several decennia FAB is an important stronghold that collects and spreads everything we want to know about cats.
Unfortunately only a small part of this wealth of information reached the Continent.
So FAB decided to initiate and support the foundation of cat groups in the rest op Europe.
FAB founded the Feline Veterinary Federation (FVF) to facilitate these European cat groups to be founded.
These cat groups are allowed to use all information FAB has the disposal of and also the cat groups are offered space on the FAB website, to attach their own websites to.
The founders and present members of the board of the NVK are five veterinarians with a special interest in feline medicine who decided to give birth to the Dutch cat group.
The aim of the NVK is to provide members with information on feline medicine and other feline subjects by the “classical” way of spreading information, but also, in this era of fast information exchange, using digital pamphlets.
