New directors for FAB

Martha Cannon

Stuart Carmichael

The Feline Advis
ory Bureau (FAB) is delighted to welcome Martha Cannon BA VetMB DSAM(Fel) MRCVS RCVS Specialist in Feline Medicine and Stuart Carmichael BVMS MVM DSAO MRCVS RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Orthopaedics, as new directors. The charity, which became a charity limited by guarantee in 2007, has, as one of its major divisions, the European Society of Feline Medicine (ESFM). It is unique in its work in and integration of all sectors of cat care, from veterinary to catteries and breeding and works nationally, as well as internationally.

Chief Executive Claire Bessant said, ‘We have a fixed term policy for our board and recently three of our veterinary surgeon directors came to the end of this nine year term. We were very sorry to lose Andrew Sparkes, Danièlle Gunn-Moore and Ros Gaskell from the board but are delighted to welcome Martha and Stuart. We are so pleased that Andy and Danièlle will continue to work with us – Andy is editor of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery, and Danièlle is a member of the ESFM committee, as well as both inputting regularly on feline issues – we value their expertise greatly.’

Martha Cannon was an FAB resident at Bristol and now runs her own feline only first opinion and referral practice in Oxford. Stuart has recently left Glasgow Veterinary School and is National Hospitals’ Director for Vetsnow.

FAB continues to grow and face the challenges of finding funding, good governance, best strategy and providing clear, up to date and reliable information on all things feline.
