FAB Cat Friendly Practice Award winners

Nearly 200 nominations were received from cat owners for over 80 veterinary practices throughout the UK in the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) Cat Friendly Practice Awards Competition 2006.

Twenty-three practices gained awards: four Golds Awards, four Silver Awards and 15 Bronze Awards. Three Cynthia awards were also presented to individuals from three of these practices at the Groucho Club, London on November 10.

The awards ceremony was hosted by FAB Chairman FAB, Dr Andy Sparkes.

Gold Awards

Oxford Cat Clinic, Oxford

The judges loved the heart warming video presentation and were impressed by the calm environment and carefully planned layout of the practice. The level of care and expertise that all the staff showed towards their clients and feline patients was exceptional.

Abbey House Veterinary Hospital , Morley, Leeds

The judges were extremely impressed by the facilities and equipment available in the practice and by the very high standard of care offered to all the patients. Despite running a large and busy veterinary hospital, the staff maintained a reassuring personal touch and gave time to each of their clients.

Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital, Kings Lynn

The judges were particularly impressed by the level of care given to all the feline patients and by the staff's warm, friendly approach to everyone. The amount of helpful written information offered to clients was exceptional.

Ivy Lodge Veterinary Clinic, Upminster

The judges were impressed by the level of facilities available at Ivy Lodge, a comparatively small practice, by the breadth of knowledge of feline medicine and by the standard of care offered to feline patients.

Silver Awards

Avalon Veterinary Clinic, Glasgow

The judges were particularly impressed by the attitude of all the staff at the clinic. Clearly, they all cared passionately about their feline patients and were motivated to continually improve the standard of feline care they offered.

Edinburgh Cat Clinic

As a cat only clinic, the environment was very cat friendly but the judges were particularly impressed by the level of knowledge of the staff at the clinic.

Farthings Veterinary Group, Horsham

The judges were particularly impressed by the empathy shown towards the feline patients and the care taken with each client in the midst of a very busy practice. There is much enthusiasm for positive change in the practice. The nursing care offered to the cats was also of an exceptionally high standard.

Endell Veterinary Group, Salisbury

The judges were impressed by the high standard of care offered to the feline patients and the attitude of practice staff towards both patients and clients. The staff were working to improve the facilities at the practice and were also taking time to seek the best possible advice.

Anna Chalmers, veterinary surgeon at Avalon Veterinary Clinic, Glasgow

Sarah George veterinary surgeon at the Pet Vaccination Clinic, West Midlands

Clair Loding head veterinary nurse at the Ivy Lodge Veterinary Clinic, Upminster.

These people impressed the judges as ‘championing cat care within their practices'. The Cynthia Award is designed and named after the cat that appears on FAB's logo and bears the inscription ‘for great cattitude'.
