18 - FAB Annual Conference
Strokes, seizures and unusual behavioural disorders will be featured
at this years Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) Annual Conference to
be held at the Apollo Hotel, Basingstoke Saturday, October 28.
FAB has brought together well-known speakers from two veterinary
schools and two referral practices to share their knowledge in
subject areas that tend to be covered only briefly in textbooks.
The FAB Conference is sponsored by Royal Canin.
FAB Lecturer and Senior Clinical Scholar from Edinburgh University,
Kerry Simpson and Nicki Reed, will discuss heart disease in the
older cat and seizuring cats. Andrea Harvey will look at how the
skin provides clues to systemic diseases. This will also be illustrated
when Bristol FAB Resident Angie Hibbert discusses a case of Cushing's
syndrome -‘Sophie's skin'. Sarah Heath of Behavioural Referrals
Veterinary Practice, Chester, will explain the causes behind some
unusual feline behaviour. She will also join forces with Clare
Rusbridge, veterinary neurologist at the Stone Lion Veterinary
Centre, Wimbledon, to discuss orofacial pain syndrome and other
strange behaviour disorders with a neurological cause. The causes,
treatment and prognosis of strokes will also be discussed separately
in a lecture by Clare Rusbridge.
Registration costs £40.00 for FAB members, £50.00
for non-members and includes lunch, tea and coffee.
The meeting is open to all members of FAB and interested members
of the public, including veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses,
cat breeders, cattery proprietors, those involved in cat rescue
and cat owners.
