Essential Cattitude - an insight into the feline world |
|
Unravelling the feline enigma…
Cats are enigmatic creatures. For many owners that is their charm, but we all wonder from time to time why cats behave as they do. What causes them to feel frightened or stress? How do they choose to eat and drink? What do they do when they are away from home?
FAB’s beautifully illustrated new book - Essential Cattitude: an insight into the feline world - reveals many of these cat secrets. Written by members of the FAB feline behaviour expert panel, who tackle cat behaviour issues and problems on a daily basis, the book brings together information which can make a huge difference to feline wellbeing and should help us all to avoid problems.

They come from a variety of different backgrounds and often have the passion and drive to get involved but not the knowledge or experience to know where to start or how to deal with the inevitable problems which arise. As an owner you can have a huge impact on
the health and wellbeing of your cat by
undertaking routine preventive health care
at all stages of its life - from kittenhood
through to geriatric. This gives the best
chance of preventing problems arising or,
at least, maximising the detection of any
illnesses early on.
We
have produced the WellCatlog
for you and your cat. It is specific to
your individual cat and packed with practical
tips and advice.
In the centre you will find the WellCat
Health Chart:
- Use it to determine what
routine health checks your cat should be
undergoing and when;
- Use it to record and
monitor various details relating to your
cat's health - bodyweight, body condition
score, results of any tests and examinations,
and so on. By finding out and recording
what is normal for your cat, you will be
in a much better position to spot any changes
that may need investigating.

a new focus for FAB’s anniversary year
In 2008 the FAB Journal will have a new
identity. Taking into account member
feedback and people’s increasing needs
and demand for information in the cat
care field, we have redesigned the
Journal to produce a bright, clean,
practical publication which we hope
that you will love.
The quality of the information will not
be altered, just targeted to meet the
requirements that you outlined in your
replies to the questionnaire sent out at
the end of 2006. Many of you work with
cats on a professional basis and want to
maintain or raise standards of care in
your area of concern. Similarly we
know that our pet cat owning members are extremely
dedicated and knowledgeable and also want information on a wider range
of subjects. We have been working on this project for some time now and
hope you like it as much as we do. If you would like to see specific topics
covered, let us know.
The first issue of catcare will appear in March 2008. During the year we will
have regular features from our veterinary expert panel and our behaviour
expert panel and we will publish the answers to frequently asked questions
in our regular cat clinic feature. There will be a wide variety of articles on
topics such as cat housing and handling. The WellCat programme will be
introduced, and of course many of the old familiar features of the FAB
Journal such as information sheets and case histories will still be there.
