As an owner you can have a huge impact on the health and
wellbeing of your cat by undertaking routine preventive health
care at all stages of its life - from kittenhood through to geriatric.
This gives the best chance of preventing problems arising or, at
least, maximising the detection of any illnesses early on.

How to get your copy of the WellCatlog
|
We have produced the WellCatlog for you and your cat. It is specific to your individual cat and packed
with practical tips and advice.
In the centre you will
find the WellCat Health Chart:
- Use it to determine what routine health checks
your cat should be undergoing and when;
- Use it to record and monitor various details relating
to your cat's health - bodyweight, body condition score,
results of any tests and examinations, and so on. By finding out
and recording what is normal for your cat, you will be in a much
better position to spot any changes that may need investigating.
We have provided all veterinary practices with a complementary
practical guide to the WellCat programme, which defines the
lifestages described in your WellCatlog, along with recommended
best practice for check-ups and advice on when health problems
are likely to occur. The information is setout simply but it has taken
many years of treating cats and gathering information on disease
to devise a good health plan.
Just as we are beginning to acknowledge in people, we are learning
that diet and preventive healthcare can have a profound effect
on the long-term health of cats. WellCat encourages you to work with your veterinary practice to develop a partnership of care for
your cat that will span all its life stages. And the timing is just right – thanks to FAB's recent Cat Friendly Practice campaign, many
veterinary practices are now becoming much more feline-orientated
and aware of cats' particular needs for quiet surroundings, gentle
handling, unhurried examination and relaxed convalescence.

The WellCatclub is an online club aimed at the more committed cat owner. It gives you the opportunity to sign up and receive more information,
to feed back opinions on feline-related matters and be involved in surveys. In the
future, you will be able to input your cat's data directly online.
